Jordan Russell Taylor
Guitarist & Multi-instrumentalist
I am a guitarist (and multi-instrumentalist) from Toronto, Ontario with over a decade of professional experience in music education and performance. I can accommodate any skill level across a broad range of genres. All my lessons are personalized to the needs of each student in order to make your time with me both fun and effective.
I have been teaching guitar privately (as well as bass, ukulele, beginner piano, drums and more) from my home in the GTA since 2008. I am well experienced to teach my students the fundamentals of technique, music theory and ear training, as well as proper practice and study skills to find progress efficiently during lessons and at home. I am able to accommodate any skill level having taught students who have just started to learn the instrument to students enrolled in post-secondary music programs.
I am a graduate of the Humber College Bachelor of Music Program (with Honours) and during my time there I received several scholarships in recognition of my academic achievement. I have also earned a diploma in Jazz Performance from Humber College and before that, I was enrolled in private studies in subjects such as counterpoint, harmony, and analysis. From 2006 I’ve studied privately with several well-known guitarists in the GTA as well as taking lessons in piano, drums, and vocals.
Some of my strengths in education include a constant strive for improvement as well as an extreme attentiveness for detail when learning and teaching. I am able to relate with my students and share my own experiences to better help them achieve their goals. I continually seek out fresh ways to encourage students to exercise their creativity, whether from a new technique, style of music, or merely applying a student’s existing knowledge in a new way.
