JOHN ABOU CHACRA(Saxophone teacher)

JOHN ABOU CHACR

Saxophone teacher)

Johnny Abou Chacra is a young Lebanese-Canadian multi-instrumentalist (mainly saxophone and guitar).

I am a multi-instrumentalist and bandleader based in Toronto. Through my artistry, playing ability and musical progress, I have inspired many students and colleagues to start or continue playing the saxophone. I believe music is the sound of joy and devotion that requires serious discipline and focus. However, it is more important to have a good time than to sound good!

Johnny Abou Chacra is a young Lebanese-Canadian multi-instrumentalist (mainly saxophone and guitar). Over the past couple of years, he has been studying and performing with some of Toronto’s finest musicians in the styles of jazz, funk, rock, pop, blues, and Arabic.

Johnny is a self-taught musician, he started playing the saxophone 5 years ago but anyone who hears him will think he’s been playing his whole life. His development and professionalism stem from his complete devotion and passion for music.

Johnny has had the opportunity to study with two highly acclaimed saxophonists over the years and uses the knowledge he has gained in his own teachings. He has over 2 years of teaching experience with students of all ages and levels. He believes music should be approached from a fun and stress-free environment, especially with younger beginners, at the same time building discipline, focus and passion in order to progress.

His lessons are catered to each student’s goals and levels.  Many individuals starting out on any instrument find it difficult to understand why or what they are playing. One of Johnny’s main goals while teaching is helping an individual find their passion and motivation to play music.

He’s a firm believer you’re never too old to start learning an instrument. He has inspired many students and colleagues to start or continue playing the saxophone because of his quick progress on the instrument starting at a slightly older age than usual. Johnny is a great teacher, but also a great friend and a very hospitable person due to his cultural upbringing. Students are always excited to meet with him to learn and have a good time.

Saxophone basics (fingerings + embouchure).

Saxophone technique.

Music theory (jazz + classical)
