Lydia Kim is a Toronto-based multilingual singer-songwriter, producer and musician with more than 15 years of music performance and education including composition, production, audio engineering, and directing. While earning both her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Waterloo, and Masters degree in Music Technology and Digital Media at the University of Toronto, she led and sang in rock bands, jazz groups, musicals, choirs, collegiate a cappella, and even virtual idol groups. She now writes, produces, and records with artists internationally, as well as mentors young musicians in production – while always looking forward to sharing her love and passion for music with her students.
Lydia specialises in voice in various styles including pop, theatre, classic, rock, and jazz. She strongly believes that no two voices are the same, and that each person has their own strengths to build upon. Formally trained in both musical theatre and classic voice, she understands the importance of always practising the fundamentals regardless of age, talent, or skill level. She structures lessons specifically to each student, ensuring they develop a strong and healthy foundation, while at the same time exploring their identity.
With Lydia, students come into a safe and positive space, where she encourages them to sing the songs they want to learn and work towards performing in front of audiences of all sizes, at their own pace. She is an advocate and cheerleader for students to love and be comfortable with their own voice that is true to themselves. Her students will always enjoy freedom of expression in their music as they grow into confident performers.
Lydia’s albums and songs are found on all online platforms under her moniker, KISAKI, including a continuously updated playlist of all her releases and collaborations on her website.
