Jinu Isac is a drummer, pianist, and composer who began playing jazz fusion music in India
at a young age, after which he started touring around Canada at age 12 in his father’s band.
His broad musical education spans Carnatic percussion, jazz piano at the Humber
Community Music program, classical percussion at Etobicoke School of the Arts, a
Bachelor of Music from Humber College, and a Master of Arts in Music Composition from
York University.
Jinu has over 15 years of performance experience across Canada and the U.S. in genres
ranging from jazz, fusion, and R&B to hip-hop, pop, and Bollywood music. He has
collaborated with artists such as Ravi Naimpally, Rich Brown, Joanna Majoko, Justin
Nozuka, Michael Occhipinti, Elizabeth Shepherd, and Don Byron.
As an educator, Jinu structures his lessons to include technical exercises in support of the
student’s song choices and goals. He has a flexible teaching style and adapts to each
individual’s interests and skill level. He teaches jazz, rock, R&B, hip-hop, pop, classical,
and composition, musical production, and recording to students of all ages and skill levels.
