Iain is a seasoned teacher who loves to find the fun in learning. His extensive knowledge in both Singing and Piano make him a certified professional while also being an exciting and motivational mentor. Iain has had students go on to study at the esteemed Sheridan College Musical Theatre Program and perform on stages such as Arts Club Theatre in Vancouver B.C.
Iain started teaching piano out of his family home with his father when he was fourteen years old. He has gained a few tips and tricks along the way now teaching both classical and recreational piano and he has added musical theatre, jazz and pop voice to his teaching expertise. Iain spent one year studying vocal jazz at Capilano University but then graduated with honours from the prestigious Sheridan College Music Theatre Program. He has taught at music schools across the country, such as: Beaches Dance and Music School, Stagecoach Toronto West, Annex Children’s Theatre, Vancouver Film School and Conservatory of Dance and Music, etc. He also currently conducts a group of singers for My Pop Choir in Oakville.
Iain tries to find a balance between helping students find a weekly practice routine so they find joy in improving their skills themselves but he also strives to find the fun in playing. When students find their own way into the joy of music, there is a higher chance they will have music as a part of their lives for years to come. He teaches all levels, from beginners to RCM piano students gearing up for exam season. Iain also loves teaching young people who have an interest in singing musical theatre, pop, jazz or classical. He is an expert in preparing kids for Arts School auditions- High School or Post
