Kate has spent the past four years earning her Bachelor’s degree in musical theatre and learning the intricacies about the voice and how to use it! She grew up singing and dancing at every opportunity, and now is proud to call herself a professional performer. With a deep knowledge of acting, Kate is very passionate about storytelling through songs. She believes that singing shouldn’t just sound ‘pretty’ but should truly mean something. Kate specializes in Musical Theatre, Pop and Rock singing, with vocal health focussed techniques that can help you achieve a gritty, or pure sound depending on the song!
Students who want to start singing for the first time, or want to take their performance to the next level will be supported by Kate. She understands that singing can be very vulnerable, and strives to make her lessons a safe, fun, and encouraging space! Her lessons will help students get out of their shells and experiment, and remind them that not being ‘perfect’ on the first try is how you learn!
Kate will take into account the individual student’s learning style, and construct the lesson around what will give them the best result. Not every voice and singer are the same, so the lessons shouldn’t be either! If they like having a structured warm up to pull out of their back pocket, that’s what they’ll get, and if they need to switch things up to stay engaged, she has a decade of vocal warmups to use!
Kate truly believes that everyone can sing, and having an encouraging teacher who can help them on their specific path is key! She can also help with repertoire suggestions, audition prep, sight-reading and vocal health!
