If you’ve ever wished for a relaxed, supportive space to share your music or simply enjoy great local talent with a slice of free pizza our monthly Open Mic & Slice nights might become your new favorite event. Hosted every month right here at Elite Music Academy, these evenings offer students and local musicians a welcoming place to perform, grow, and connect.

As a performance-based school, we already believe strongly in the power of the stage. We host two formal recitals every year in January and June, giving students the opportunity to showcase their progress in a structured and celebratory environment. But in between those milestones, we wanted something more casual, creative, and community-driven. That’s how Open Mic & Slice was born a monthly event where the pressure is low, the vibe is friendly, and the pizza is free. In this blog, we’ll take you inside what makes our open mic nights so special, why we created them, and how they’ve become one of the most anticipated events at Elite Music Academy.
Each month we host a low-key, supportive Mic & Slice open mic where students can perform, meet others, and apply their skills on stage—solo or with a friend. These are relaxed, community-focused events designed to help students grow confidence and connect with peers. To stay updated on upcoming dates, follow us on Instagram:

For many musicians, confidence doesn’t come from practicing alone in a room, it grows on stage. But performing can be intimidating, especially for beginners. Our monthly open mic nights create a space where students can take their first steps into performing without the fear of messing up or being judged.
These events are intentionally informal. You can try a new song, experiment with a different genre, or perform for the very first time. Mistakes are not just accepted, they’re expected. They’re part of the learning process. The goal is simply to be brave enough to share your music.
Whether you sing, play guitar, drum lesson, write your own songs, perform in a duo, or jam with friends, there is room for you on our stage.
We didn’t call it Open Mic & Slice for nothing. The pizza is absolutely part of the fun.
There’s something about gathering around food that breaks the ice and brings people together. Before and after performances, you’ll see students chatting, laughing, comparing instruments, and cheering each other on. Parents and friends join in too, turning the night into a warm, social community event.
The pizza isn’t the star of the night but it definitely helps.
Performing shouldn’t come with technical headaches. That’s why we set up everything you need so you can simply walk on stage and play.
At every Open Mic & Slice, we provide:
There’s no need to bring anything but yourself and your instrument (if you prefer your own). Our tech will help make sure you sound your best, whether you’re a seasoned performer or brand new to amplified sound.
While our open mic nights are free for all performing Elite students, they’re also open to local musicians from the surrounding community. This mix of school performers and outside artists creates a diverse, dynamic lineup.
You might see:
These nights encourage cross-generational music-making and unique interactions you won’t find in most classrooms. Students gain confidence by performing in front of new faces, and local musicians get the chance to meet passionate young talent. It’s a win for everyone and helps keep the local music scene thriving.
We believe the stage is one of the most valuable classrooms a musician can have. Here’s what these monthly events help build:
Performing regularly helps students become comfortable with being in front of an audience. The more they perform, the less intimidating the stage becomes.
Music is personal. These nights allow performers to express themselves freely, whether they’re sharing something deeply emotional or just having fun.
Learning how to use a mic, communicate with a sound engineer, and handle stage transitions are all practical skills musicians need.
Seeing peers perform sparks motivation. Students walk away inspired, wanting to learn new songs or try new styles.
Music can be solitary, but it doesn’t have to be. Open Mic & Slice builds friendships, mentorships, and a supportive environment that carries over into lessons and rehearsals.
Each month, the energy in the room is different. Some nights feel mellow and acoustic. Others are filled with rock bands, duets, and high-energy sets. No two open mic nights are ever the same.
Parents often tell us it becomes a highlight of their month. Students start preparing songs weeks in advance. Local musicians check back regularly to see what’s new. The excitement builds and builds, and before we know it, the room is filled with music, pizza, and applause.
It’s a tradition we’re proud of and one we hope continues to grow each year.
One of the best parts of Open Mic & Slice is its inclusivity. You do not need to be a professional performer. You don’t even need to be experienced. You just need the desire to share music.
We welcome:
Every style is welcome too rock, pop, folk, jazz, classical, R&B, metal, acoustic, or anything in between.
Whether you want to perform, support a friend, or simply enjoy live music and free pizza, we’d love to see you at our next monthly open mic night. These events perfectly capture what we value at Elite Music Academy: community, creativity, and the joy of making music together.
