Shourya Jain is a singer-songwriter, performer and vocal coach currently residing in Scarborough, Toronto, Ontario. She is trained in multiple genres of music like Classical (Hindustani and Western), Bollywood, Western Pop, RnB, Rock and Musical Theatre. She has her Diploma in Performance from Dr. A.R. Rahman’s Institute of Music in Chennai (KMMC)

Shourya’s approach to teaching music is to find out where her student’s passion in singing lies, and aims at providing him/her with that. Her classes focus on the following areas :

1. Solidifying and strengthening basic Singing Techniques such as: breathing, warming up, and using the correct posture in singing. 

2. Creating a foundation for Vocal Skills such as: scales, vocal riffs and runs, music theory and sight singing. 

3. Learning Technique Study such as: consonant – vowel training, projection and resonance. 

4. Performance aspects such as – building confidence, song study, presentation and performing. 

Shourya aims at making a performer out of each of her students and builds their confidence by creating a solid base through the use of basics of vocal pedagogy, and aims at strengthening and nurturing them as they grow in the art form. She builds her students to advance in subjects like music theory, history and analysis. 

She specializes in the art of recording voice, and provides her students with that skill if it is required in their learning experience of singing.

Shourya is open to taking students from the very Beginner’s level to Expert, and any age group. She follows a curriculum that she created after experiencing teaching under great gurus of both Western and Indian origin, and aims at providing her students with the same essence of teaching, as she has received over the many years of her experience.
