Callum C. is one of our guitar, bass, and drum instructors at Elite Music Academy, teaching students at our 822 Danforth Ave location in Toronto, in the heart of the Danforth and Greektown area.
This location is easily accessible for students and families across Toronto, East York, Riverdale, Greektown, and surrounding communities, with nearby TTC access from Pape and Donlands stations.
Our Danforth Ave studio is a convenient option for students looking for guitar, bass, and drum lessons in Toronto with an experienced instructor who can support beginners, developing players, and more advanced students.
One of the things that makes Callum’s teaching journey unique is that it began right here at Elite Music Academy. As a young student, he started taking guitar lessons at the academy and quickly developed a passion for music that continued to grow over the years. What began as weekly lessons eventually led to studying multiple instruments, performing with ensembles and bands, and pursuing advanced musical training at Humber College.
Today, Callum is completing his Bachelor of Music at Humber College while sharing his knowledge and experience with the next generation of musicians. Having experienced both sides of the lesson process as a student and now as a teacher, he understands the challenges, goals, and excitement that come with learning an instrument. His journey reflects the long-term musical growth that can happen when students are supported, encouraged, and given opportunities to develop their skills over time.
Through his studies, live performances, and teaching experience, Callum continues to build on the foundation that first inspired him to pursue music, bringing that same passion and enthusiasm into every lesson he teaches.
If you are taking guitar, bass, or drum lessons in Toronto with Callum, each lesson is designed around your individual goals, experience level, and musical interests. Whether you are a complete beginner learning your first instrument or a more experienced musician looking to refine your skills, lessons are personalized to help you make steady progress while enjoying the learning process.
While every student follows a unique learning path, lessons are typically structured around the following areas:
Students develop strong fundamentals through chords, strumming patterns, picking techniques, fingerstyle playing, riffs, scales, and soloing. Lessons can focus on learning favourite songs, improving technique, building confidence, and developing a deeper understanding of the instrument.
Drum students work on coordination, rhythm, timing, groove development, fills, reading, and overall control of the instrument. Lessons are designed to build strong fundamentals while helping students become confident and versatile musicians.
Bass lessons focus on groove, rhythm, timing, technique, musical awareness, and ensemble playing. Students may explore bass lines, walking bass patterns, improvisation, music theory, and the important role the bass plays within a band setting.
In addition to instrument-specific training, students may also work on ear training, music theory, improvisation, creativity, reading music or tablature, performance preparation, and overall musicianship. These skills help students become more confident, independent musicians both inside and outside of lessons.
Every lesson includes clear goals and practical practice strategies so students can continue developing their skills successfully between lessons and build long-term confidence in their playing.
Through his supportive and encouraging teaching style, we feel that Callum would be an excellent fit for kids, teens, and adults learning guitar, bass, or drums. Whether a student is a complete beginner or already has experience, lessons are tailored to individual goals, interests, and learning styles.
Students interested in rock, pop, indie, blues, alternative, and contemporary music may especially enjoy Callum’s approach. His experience studying multiple instruments allows him to help students build strong technical skills while developing a broader understanding of musicianship.
Callum is also a great fit for students interested in joining a band, preparing for auditions, learning their favourite songs, or building confidence through performance. His goal is to create a positive learning environment where students feel motivated, supported, and excited to make progress.
Many students begin guitar, bass, ukulele, or banjo lessons with the goal of learning songs, improving technique, and building confidence on their instrument. As students progress, many become interested in performing with other musicians, joining a band, writing original music, or applying their skills in real-world musical situations.
With Steve’s extensive experience as a performer, recording artist, and multi-instrumentalist, students can benefit from learning skills that extend beyond one-on-one lessons. Students who are interested in taking the next step may enjoy participating in our Band Programs, Adult Jam Sessions, Open Mic events, and Summer Music Camps, where they can develop teamwork, listening skills, stage presence, confidence, and musical leadership while performing alongside other musicians.
Whether a student hopes to join a band, perform live, compose original music, direct a musical project, or simply become a more well-rounded musician, these programs can be a valuable extension of the skills developed during private lessons. They provide students with an opportunity to apply what they learn in lessons while experiencing the collaborative side of music-making.
Many of the skills that help musicians succeed in bands and ensembles—including listening, communication, preparation, adaptability, and leadership—are developed through performing with others. For students interested in expanding their musical experience beyond private lessons, these programs can be an exciting next step in their musical journey.
