Take your private music lessons further by joining one of our teen band programs in Toronto. Students rehearse together, build ensemble skills, and work toward live performances in a fun, supportive, and motivating environment. Band programs give greater direction and purpose to private lessons by allowing students to take what they learn in private lessons and apply those skills in a real band setting.
Why Join a Band ?
Private lessons are essential for developing technical skills, learning repertoire, and building confidence on your chosen instrument. However, they’re often a solitary experience. Over time, students—especially younger ones—may lose motivation without a social or creative outlet to apply what they’ve learned. That’s where a band program comes in.
Playing in a group setting introduces a vital social and collaborative element that keeps learning exciting and purposeful. In band rehearsals, students apply their private lesson skills in real-world musical contexts. For example, if your group is working on a song like Stairway to Heaven, your role might be to play rhythm guitar, lead guitar, or even a solo. This gives you a clear reason to ask questions in your private lessons: “Can we go over the chord progression for my part?” or “Can you help me with this solo section?”
Band programs bring musical goals to life. Students experience the full creative process—from rehearsal to live performance—and develop valuable skills like listening, teamwork, and stage presence. And nothing beats the feeling of performing with your band in front of family and friends, sharing that final product you’ve all worked hard to create.
Browse our current Teen Band options below and select the group that interests you most. During your Placement Session, we’ll get to know you, learn about your musical experience, goals, and preferred instrument, and help determine whether your selected band is the best fit. If another group would provide a better experience, we’ll happily discuss those options with you.

The total number of rehearsals varies depending on the day of the week. Holiday closures, long weekends, school breaks, and the Elite Music Academy calendar have already been taken into account when calculating each program’s total number of classes and tuition.
Students are billed only for the scheduled rehearsals in their selected band.
Students are welcome to join a Teen Band after the school year has begun, provided space is available.
Tuition is prorated based on the number of rehearsals remaining in the school year, so families only pay for the classes taking place after their start date.
A Placement Session is still required before joining a band to ensure the student is placed in the group that best matches their age, experience, instrument, musical goals, and the overall balance of the band.
If you completed a Placement Session within the past year, you may not need another one.
In many cases, we already know your musical interests, experience level, preferred instrument, and the type of band that will be the best fit. If you’re ready to join a band this year, simply contact us directly with the day or program you’d like to join. We’ll review your previous Placement Session and let you know whether another assessment is necessary.
Students whose last Placement Session was more than one year ago, or who have not been active in one of our Teen Band Programs, may be asked to complete a new Placement Session so we can accurately assess their current playing level, musical goals, and the best group placement.
After you book your Placement Session, one of our instructors will spend time getting to know you as both a musician and a person.
We’ll talk about your musical experience, your primary instrument, the styles of music you enjoy, and what you’re hoping to get out of the program. We’ll also ask you to play or sing so we can better understand your current level and how we can help you continue to grow.
Our goal isn’t to judge your ability—it’s to find the band where you’ll have the best opportunity to learn, contribute, build confidence, and enjoy making music with others.
Our suggested age groups are designed to help students play with others at a similar stage of development. However, every young musician develops at their own pace.
If your child is slightly younger or older than one of our recommended age groups, don’t let that stop you from contacting us. During the Placement Session, we’ll also consider musical experience, confidence, instrument, and overall group fit when making our recommendation.
Our goal is simple: to place every student in an environment where they’ll have the best opportunity to learn, contribute, make friends, and enjoy performing together.
Sometimes, after meeting a student, we may recommend a different band than the one originally selected. This isn’t because one group is “better” than another—it’s because we want every student to have the best possible experience.
Whether that means joining another age group, a different rehearsal time, or another instructor, we’ll always explain our recommendation and work with you to find the most suitable option.
As our Teen Band Program continues to grow, additional groups may be added throughout the year based on student interest, instrument balance, scheduling, and instructor availability.
If you don’t currently see a band that fits your schedule, we encourage you to contact us. We’ll do our best to recommend an existing group or let you know when new opportunities become available.
