Anisimus Thapa is a Toronto-based session musician, recording artist, producer, and music educator with over 10 years of musical experience and extensive teaching experience working with students of all ages and skill levels. He is known for helping students become confident, creative musicians through guitar, performance, and practical music skills.
Students looking for guitar & bass lessons in North York will benefit from Anisimus’s combination of teaching experience, performance background, and music production knowledge.
As a graduate of Tyndale University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, Anisimus combines formal musical training with extensive real-world performance and production experience. As a recording artist and producer, he has released instrumental works including Exodus, Reminiscences, and Eseosa, while also collaborating with and producing for various artists. This ongoing professional work brings valuable industry insight into his teaching and helps students connect musical concepts to real-world applications.
Music is deeply personal to him, carrying the legacy of his late father, Isaac Thapa, whose love for music continues to inspire the way he teaches, performs, and creates.
Anisimus believes that music should feel practical, engaging, and rewarding from the very first lesson. His teaching approach combines real-world performance experience with structured musical development, helping students build both technical skills and musical confidence.
Lessons are tailored to each student’s goals and experience level, whether they are picking up an instrument for the first time or looking to refine advanced techniques. Rather than relying solely on repetitive exercises, Anisimus combines student-selected songs with carefully structured learning material that helps students understand the musical ideas behind what they are playing.
Students develop practical musicianship through improvisation, fretboard visualization, scales, harmony, rhythm training, songwriting, and performance preparation. Drawing from his experience as a performing musician, recording artist, and producer, Anisimus helps students connect theory to real musical situations and develop skills they can use both on stage and in the studio.
To support consistent progress between lessons, he provides learning resources such as tabs, backing tracks, charts, and other student-focused materials designed to keep practice engaging, productive, and enjoyable. His goal is to help students become confident, creative musicians while developing a lifelong appreciation for music.
Because of his background as a recording artist, producer, session musician, and educator, we feel that Anisimus would be an excellent fit for a wide range of students, including children, teens, and adults studying at beginner to advanced levels. Students looking to build strong technical foundations while also developing creativity, musical confidence, and practical playing skills will benefit from his balanced approach to music education.
Students interested in rock, metal, jazz, funk, blues, pop, CCM, songwriting, improvisation, music production, or recording will also appreciate learning from an instructor who actively works within Toronto’s music community and brings real-world experience into every lesson.
Prior to committing to further lessons, we encourage students and parents to begin with an introductory lesson so they can meet the teacher, discuss goals, and assess the student’s current level. During the introductory lesson, Anisimus can also recommend lesson frequency, lesson length, practice strategies, and areas of focus moving forward.
To continue after your introductory lesson—or if you have any questions—please contact our scheduling team at [email protected]. Our team will be happy to assist you with ongoing lesson scheduling and availability.
If you are looking for guitar & bass lessons in North York, Anisimus is a strong option for students seeking practical, performance-focused music instruction.
Private guitar and bass lessons are one of the best ways to build strong musical foundations, develop technique, and gain confidence as a musician. However, many students benefit from opportunities to apply those skills in a collaborative musical environment. Once students have developed some foundational skills, we often encourage them to explore group programs where they can rehearse, perform, and grow alongside other musicians.
For younger and teen students, our Rock/Pop Band Programs Ages (10–13) & (14–17) provide exciting opportunities to work with other musicians, develop ensemble skills, prepare songs as a group, and perform in front of an audience. Students often find that band rehearsals help improve listening skills, creativity, teamwork, stage presence, and overall musical confidence while making the learning process even more enjoyable.
During the summer months, students may also enjoy participating in our Summer Music Camps, where they can experience intensive group rehearsals, collaborative music-making, songwriting activities, and live performances in a fun and supportive environment.
Adult students looking to perform and connect with other musicians may benefit from our Adult Jam Sessions 18 To 35 and Adult Jam Sessions 35+ programs. These sessions provide a welcoming environment where musicians can collaborate, develop practical musicianship, gain performance experience, and continue growing outside of private lessons.
Whether your goal is to perform on stage, play in a band, improve your confidence, or simply enjoy making music with others, these group programs can be an excellent complement to private guitar and bass lessons with Anisimus.
