Sangho L. is a guitar and bass teacher at Elite Music Academy with five years of teaching experience in Korea, working with children, teenagers and adults of different skill levels. His friendly, energetic and supportive approach helps students feel comfortable as they develop their musical abilities and confidence. Whether a student is picking up an instrument for the first time or building on existing experience, Sangho focuses on making lessons enjoyable, encouraging and suited to each student’s individual goals and interests.
Sangho’s passion for guitar began when he discovered the C major scale and realized he could use its notes to create his own guitar solos. This early experience opened the door to improvisation and musical creativity, inspiring him to explore the guitar more deeply and pursue music professionally.
After several years of private guitar studies, Sangho completed a two-year diploma in Practical Music, specializing in Guitar Performance, at Jeonghwa Arts University in South Korea. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music at Humber College in Toronto, continuing to expand his knowledge and skills as a musician.
His musical background includes jazz, rock, pop, R&B, funk and fingerstyle guitar, along with experience in live performance and collaborating with other musicians. Having experienced the challenges of learning an instrument himself, Sangho brings both musical knowledge and an understanding of the learning process to his students.
Sangho believes that every student learns differently, so he adapts his lessons to each student’s age, experience, musical interests and personal goals. Whether teaching a young beginner, a teenager exploring their favorite music or an adult learning for enjoyment, he focuses on building strong foundations while keeping lessons engaging and rewarding.
His approach combines practical playing skills, technique, rhythm and musical understanding with opportunities for students to explore their creativity. When students encounter difficulties, Sangho takes the time to identify what is holding them back and find an approach that helps them move forward with confidence.
Above all, Sangho wants students to enjoy their musical journey, recognize their progress and leave each lesson feeling motivated to continue learning.
Guitar students can explore acoustic and electric guitar, learning to play chords, melodies, riffs and solos across musical styles such as rock, pop, jazz, R&B, funk and fingerstyle guitar. As their playing develops, students can explore improvisation, musical expression and creating their own guitar parts.
Bass students can develop their understanding of bass lines, grooves and how the bass works together with drums and other instruments in a band. Lessons can explore different rhythms and playing techniques while helping students understand the bass guitar’s important role in shaping the sound and feel of a song.
Beyond learning to play songs, Sangho helps students develop a deeper understanding of music through theory, improvisation and creative expression. His experience teaching band classes also allows him to guide students in playing with other musicians, listening as part of an ensemble and preparing for live performances.
For students interested in pursuing music further, Sangho can provide guidance in preparing for music exams and school auditions. His knowledge of recording and music production software, including Pro Tools, Logic Pro and Ableton Live, also provides opportunities to explore how music is created and recorded.
Whether students dream of performing on stage, joining a band or simply becoming more confident musicians, Sangho encourages them to develop the skills and musical understanding to pursue their goals.
