Even accomplished players will takes guitar lessons in order to learn something new.

Many students who sign up for guitar lessons, on the other hand, are not interested in becoming the next Eddie Van Halen or Steve Vai. They simply want to know how long it will take before they can strum a few chords and play a few songs. Guitar teachers often forget how unnatural and awkward a guitar feels when you pick it up for the first time. It can easily feel like you are having a spastic attack as your fingers stumble all over the guitar hitting everyplace except for the right place. When a student asks how long does it take to learn the guitar, what they really want to know is, “how long does it take before I can play something that sounds like music with this thing?” The short answer is that it usually takes 3-4 weeks of guitar lessons before the guitar will begin to feel comfortable. This requires that the student diligently practice the guitar lesson a few times during the week. After the first few weeks a student finds that she has more control over her fingers. One thing to keep in mind is that playing chords considerably difficult than single notes. Don’t worry if the chord doesn’t sound perfect at first.
